When Brandon Anderson first accepted a busboy position at an Italian restaurant in his hometown of Philadelphia at the age of 14, he had no idea that the part-time job would lay the groundwork for his eventual career.
As a student at Northeastern University, Brandon studied International Affairs and his coursework eventually led him to live and study in Florence, Italy. While abroad, Brandon took classes in Italian history and culture, but it was his food and wine course that left a lasting impression on the young college student. Upon returning to Boston, Brandon uprooted his graduate school plans and decided to pursue his newfound passion to become a sommelier.
Brandon’s career in hospitality began at Boston's acclaimed L'Espalier where he worked as a captain before becoming a sommelier at Meritage and Barbara Lynch’s No. 9 Park. Prior to joining the Charlie Palmer Steak DC team, Brandon was the head sommelier at Fiola Mare where he curated an international wine list of over 1,000 bottles, particularly focusing on wine from Italy, France and the United States.
Brandon is an Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and is currently preparing to take the master's level examination. A born competitor, Brandon has participated in several sommelier competitions and was most recently named 'Best Young Sommelier - Mid Atlantic Region' by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
Brandon brings a sincere level of hospitality while helping guests explore the world of food and beverage. Apart from wine, Brandon loves the equally enigmatic world of amaro, as well as beer, cooking, live music, and exploring the great outdoors.
